Karim Ali

Karim is a Fellow Chartered Health and Safety Professional of both the Australian Institute of Health and Safety (AIHS) and the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH). He hold a master’s degree in WHS Management, a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, diplomas in OHS/WHS, and two decades of experience in effectively managing health and safety risks in the world’s most high-risk industries. He also a certified lead auditor, trainer, assessor and investigator.

Over the past five years, I have prepared more than 100 independent expert witness opinion reports on public liability and workplace injury matters, including psychosocial, manual handling, slips, trips and falls, being struck by moving or dropped objects, and related workplace safety incidents. My work consistently provides evidence-based, impartial analysis to assist the court in understanding complex WHS issues and identifying reasonable measures that could have prevented harm. My expert witness work typically includes:

• Site inspections, document review, and systems analysis.
• Identification of duty holders and applicable WHS obligations.
• Assessment of reasonable practicability and alternative controls.
• Joint expert conferences and expert conclaves (if applicable).
• Provision of oral evidence (where applicable).
